Horse Program Success on Working Ranches: Strategic and Operational Decision Making
October 18-19, 2018
at Memorial Student Union Building at Texas A&M University-Kingsville
During this two-day workshop-style symposium, attendees will learn how the most successful ranches in the country have strategically used and managed horses to support cattle operations. From managing brood mares to purchasing replacement saddle horses, learn from the most experienced managers and industry experts on nutrition, reproduction, health, ranch economics, employee safety, and legal risks.
The agenda includes a social and prime rib steak dinner on Thursday, October 18th. The Texas Farm Credit Certificate in Advanced Ranch Management recipients will be recognized at the dinner. The symposium concludes on Friday, October 19th with a King Ranch Equine Tour and Demonstration at the King Ranch Creek Barn. King Ranch representatives will discuss the past, present, and future of the King Ranch horse program, and a demonstration on lameness diagnosis and treatment will be instructed by practicing veterinarians.
